Search Engine Marketing Insight
This week, I created a podcast that focuses on search engine optimization and search engine marketing. The two topics are extremely popular in the marketing and social media world, so I thought I should gain some insight before I enter the workforce. Essentially, I discuss why businesses should use search engine optimization and how it helps improve marketing campaigns.
I researched the two topics and consulted with Stephen Wojtila, a junior search planner at Marcus Thomas LLC. He has worked for the Cleveland marketing firm for over a year, and was happy to share some insight on what he does.
Before I started this project, I had no idea search engine optimization existed. I understood that companies wanted to appear at the top of search engines, but I didn’t understand there was an entire industry devoted to helping others achieve that goal. The more I learned, the more I realized how important this knowledge is to marketers and businesses in general.
I enjoyed learning how to podcast, and I hope you can learn something new!

Meredith, I have been hearing about SEO more and more, even outside of class, so I clicked your post to learn more! At the Career Fair last Thursday some of the companies mentioned SEO as a possible career field. Unfortunately, I am not very familiar with it and hopefully we will cover it in class. I think it is crazy to think that someone's whole career is to deal with Search engines, like Stephen's is. I also liked how you defined the differences between SEO and SEM. Very insightful post!
